Our DIY October home maintenance checklist will help you stay organized and save you money.

Most of these monthly home maintenance issues are simple to do, you only need to be reminded of what it is that needs to be done.

Here you will find reminders of items around your house that can be done in October.

IMPORTANT!
Performing maintenance on miscellaneous things around your home can be hazardous. Be sure power is shut off on items that you are going to work on.

Maintenance Checklist for October

Interior

Remove or cover all window AC units with plastic.

Clean and replace filters in humidifiers.

Drain hot water heater (follow manufacturer's instructions).

Exterior

Clean leaves, branches and other debris from roof and gutters.

Clean out gutters and downspouts checking for damage and repair as required.

Remove and clean window and door screens and inspect for holes or damage. Repair as needed.

Drain all water from hoses and faucets. In cold climates remove all water pumps from fountains and store hoses.

Trim tree branches that interfere with your siding or roof.

Shut water supply valve to exterior sprinkler system OFF.

Winterize plants and trees.

Winterize power outdoor equipment.

Apply Fall fertilizer.
