1. A squeaking door is an annoyance. Most hinges will come apart if you remove the hinge pin by tapping on the bottom of it.



This is the Hinge Pin which is where some of the squeaking noise originates.


2. Then just pull it all the way up to remove it.


3. Apply a little oil to the hinge pin and also the hinge knuckles. This is where the two sections of the hinge meet. Wipe off with a rag or paper towel so that the oil does not drip all over the edge of the door when you put the hinge back together.
   
   
   
   Almost any lubricating oil will work on hinges. In this case, oil is oil because it lubricates.
   
   
   This lubrication will indeed stop the dreaded noise each time you open or close the door.


4. Operate the door several times to spread the lubricant.
