Home Improvement Instructions for Replacing Knob

1. Remove two screws on the interior side of the lockset.




2. Pull off each half of the lockset.



3. Remove two screws from the latch on the edge of the door.


4. Pull the latch assembly out of the door.




5. Remove 2 screws from the latch assembly in the jamb.


6. Pull off the strike plate.


7. Unpack the new knob and make sure the latch bolt looks the same as the one you removed. It must be the same length and be round or rectangular just like the one removed.




8. Push the latch bolt into the hole in the edge of the door.


9. Reinstall the 2 screws.


10. Install strike plate using 2 screws.


11. Place the two halves of the knob together through the latch.


12. Install 2 screws through the knob. Tighten. Do not tighten the screws too tightly or the new knob may not work properly.
