Electrical Home Improvement Conduit Information

  • Doing an electrical conduit project is no doubt a more complex way to wire. It does, however, offer advantages like it is much harder for a wire to get cut. It is an exact science , though. In fact, it is full of exactness. You must learn to measure accurately, cut precisely and make allowances for elbows and fittings.

When you use conduit, you simply are installing a series of 1/2" or 3/4" steel pipes and then pulling or pushing 14 or 12 gauge wire through the pipe from outlet or switch box and onward to the next.

  • No matter if you are adding an outlet or installing a new light you'll need to establish an accesible route to install the conduit. See Electrical Wiring for more information on wiring outlets.
