Summer Maintenance

Use this DIY summer maintenance checklist to help you stay organized and save you money.

Most of these home summer maintenance issues are simple to do, you only need to be reminded of what it is that needs to be done.




Summer Months Maintenance

    Mechanicals
  • Open bottom drain on water heater and drain out about 2 gallons of water and other sediment that has settled at the bottom.
  • Examine the sump pump pit and unit.
  • Examine garage door for proper operation and tighten all bolts. Lubricate all hinges and rollers that slide in the track.
  • Examine the garage door opener for proper operation and lubricate the chain drive, if any, tighten the chain to proper length.
  • Replace filters in heating and A/C systems
    • Interior
  • Electrical Panel
  • Remove cover and inspect for loose wires or any dampness.
    • Exterior
  • Gutters and Downspouts
  • Remove debris from gutters and downspouts
  • Replace or repair any sections that have holes or excessive rust
  • Make sure downspouts drain away from foundation.
  • Spot paint worn areas
